Opening video screening room

        In the morning of June 25, 2025, the Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre held an official handover ceremony for the LED screen and the reopening of the renovated video screening room. This initiative was a collaboration between UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (TSGM), with financial support from KOICA Cambodia.

        The event was presided over by H.E. Hab Touch, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts; Ms. Lee Sejin, Deputy Country Director of KOICA Cambodia; Mr. Uma Sarda Alam, head of office, UNESCO Representative in Cambodia; Ms. Nom Narim, Director of the Department of Culture and Fine Arts; Mr. Bell Sakpheakdey, Deputy Governor of Dangkao District; Mr. Hang Nisay, Director of Tuol Sleng Genocide museum; Madam Ros Sophieravy, Director of the Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre; along with members of the Choeung Ek Commune Council, the Deputy Chief of Choeung Ek Police, and the village chiefs of Roluos and Srok Chek. Also in attendance were collaborators from the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre. The program was held with the following objectives:

• Strengthen Access to Educational Content: Utilize modern audio-visual equipment, including the LED screen and video room, to present digital archival materials, testimonies, and peace education resources to a wider audience.
• Enhance Educational Infrastructure: Improve the physical and technological environment of the memorial site to support engaging and effective learning experiences for visitors, especially students and youth.
•  Promote Peace Education: Leverage the power of historical memory to foster critical thinking, awareness, and a culture of peace among youth and the general public.
